The Invisibles

Following the Leader

Copyright 2007.

Who has not played this fun game? Kids love it, yet when we grow up we realize that leaders can be dangerous too - who hasn't been disappointed by some leader in authority over you - a President, a Boss, or even a Pastor.

God has told us, however, that we must be subject to the governing authority. In the US, we have a priviledge and responsibility to pick our country's leaders. To a lesser extent we may be able to pick a different boss as we change jobs, or a different pastor, as we change churches.

In reality, though, the real leader we should be following is Jesus.

Lyrics

Verse 1:
Well it seems that from the moment
That my knees first hit the floor
And I thank You for another day
Like I did the day before
I will get my 'marching orders'
From the King who rescued me
Now I follow in His footsteps
Wherever He may lead.

Chorus:
Now I'm following the leader
Down the passages of time
Through the many hardships and the wonders we may find
Every day's a new adventure
I don't want to fall behind
Following the leader
Down the passages of time

When I was just a youngster
I would play this with my friends
We would follow where that leader went
Until the journey ends
And the coolest thing about it
Is that you would never know
The adventures you would find
Where that leader chose to go.

Chorus:

You should pick your leader carefully
For if he's not so nice
He could lead you on a bed of coals
Or out upon thin ice!
If you want, I know a leader
Who is worthy of our praise
He's so good, that you can follow all your days.

Chorus: (twice)
